This Privacy Policy explains how I, Aisha, collect, use and protect personal data when you visit MindWave (mindwave.life) or contact me through this site. MindWave is a personal blog operated by an individual, not a company. I take your privacy seriously and aim to comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore.

What personal data I collect
Depending on how you use the site, I may collect the following:
Contact form data
When you submit the contact form, I collect your name, email address and message content. You must tick the consent checkbox before sending. I do not collect this data unless you choose to submit the form.
Technical and usage data
Like most websites, my hosting provider may automatically log standard server information such as IP address, browser type, referring page, date and time of access, and pages viewed. If you accept analytics cookies (see below), basic aggregated usage statistics may also be collected to help me understand how readers find and use the site.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. I use essential cookies to remember your cookie preferences. Optional analytics cookies are only set if you accept them via the cookie banner. Your choice is stored for six months.
How I use your personal data
I use personal data only for legitimate purposes connected to running this personal blog:
- To read and respond to messages you send via the contact form or email
- To operate, maintain and secure the website
- To understand general readership patterns if you have consented to analytics cookies
- To comply with applicable legal obligations if required
I do not sell your personal data. I do not use your contact details for marketing newsletters unless you explicitly ask to receive them, which this site does not currently offer.

Under the PDPA, I rely on your consent when you submit the contact form with the PDPA checkbox ticked, and when you accept optional cookies through the banner. Essential cookies necessary for the site to remember your cookie choice are used based on legitimate interest in operating the website responsibly. You may withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time by clearing cookies in your browser and making a new choice when the banner appears.
Who I share data with
I do not share your personal data with third parties except:
- My web hosting provider, which stores the website and may process server logs
- Email delivery infrastructure used to transmit contact form messages
- Analytics providers, only if you have accepted analytics cookies
- Authorities if required by law — which I do not expect for a personal blog, but I must mention it
Any service providers I use are expected to handle data appropriately and only for the purposes I specify.
How long I keep data
Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward in case of follow-up, typically no longer than twelve months unless a longer period is necessary. Server logs are retained according to my hosting provider's default rotation schedule. Cookie consent preferences are stored for six months, after which the banner will ask for your choice again.
Data security
I take reasonable steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. This includes using reputable hosting, keeping software updated where applicable, and not publishing your contact details without permission. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights under the PDPA
Subject to exceptions in the PDPA, you have the right to:
- Ask whether I hold personal data about you
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing such as analytics cookies

This site may link to external pages such as photo sources or references. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please read their policies if you visit them.
Children
MindWave is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under thirteen. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through the contact form, please let me know and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when I do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy, though I will not reduce your rights without notice where required.

What you read on MindWave is written by me alone — my impressions, opinions and memories at the time of writing. Posts are personal reflections, not professional, medical, legal, financial or fitness advice. I describe places and everyday moments from my own point of view; I don't name or speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood kindly and honestly. If I've got something wrong, tell me and I'll fix it.
